what did we grieve

"On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family."
too many people are dying. i realize this sounds silly and i seem to have lately been a big fan of saying very obvious things.

i know people are constantly dying on this planet, but when someone known, someone famous, someone inspirational - we all suddenly feel the impact. (and i know it's fickle because people everywhere are dying of poverty, starvation, natural disasters and we never register that fact)

i feel like the people who our generation admired, watched out for, kept track of...are leaving.

i suppose we'll erect new heroes in time and find others to replace the gaps. but loss is loss.

just happened to be struck by the sense of temporary.
