what did we watch: flash mob dance

my sister sent me this link in her comment to the post below and because it registers on my "wow that was insanely cool" scale i'm reposting it here:

http://www.oprah.com/article/oprahshow/20090908-tows-flash-mob-dance

21,000 people, huge fans of oprah, (and probably the black eyed peas too) perform one of the world's LARGEST DANCES to the song "i gotta feeling"

it's so crazy that so many people could be organized and rehearsed enough to pull something like this off.
but as i sent in an email to my sister in reply to her having given me this link....kind of scary too. i mean. aren't there better things to be organized for? like peaceful protests, rallying against things or in support of other things?

just some thoughts that ran through my mind while watching it.

i'm also posting the mv to the song because it's kind of just really catchy and feel good : p (don't shoot me down)

what did we spot: SATC

today sex and the city is being filmed in soho.
parked on prince street between greene and w. broadway are all the cast trailers. walking to and from the park on 6th ave and prince on my lunch break i managed to see all four of the stars (walk past them in close proximity...): kristin davis, sarah jessica parker, cynthia nixon and kim catrall (in that order)

today i love the fact that i work at nylon AND that the nylon office is where it is.

hah. i feel like i finally have a legit answer to the question i always get asked because i happen to go to school in nyc. "have you seen any celebrities?" yes. yes i have.

(oh and i know i'm crazy but these are the outfits: kristin davis: emerald green sleeveless very ruffly dress, sarah jessica parker: just spaghetti strap and leggings, cynthia nixon: patterned sleeveless summer dress, kim catrall: jeweled necklace and bright light blue sleeveless v neck dress)

what did we "ooo": HUNTER PARRISH

ok. so i don't usually go very crazy over guys.
but this is
hunter parrish
straight white american, 5'7" blue eyes with blond hair, 22 years old and 23 next may 13
actor who plays silas botwin in weeds (i am almost through season 3) and who also starred in "paper man" "17 again" "freedom writers" and currently filming "it's complicated"
he goes east coast preppy in august 2009's issue of GQ (which makes me feel like i'm actually up to date on someone hot at the right time) and alll of the below images are from the spread. i like the photos enough that i may just buy the magazine....it'd be my first GQ hah. it also helps that the clothes are cute and the styling is good. a lot of ralph lauren, also diesel, dsquared, A.P.C., band of outsiders, converse, D&G, brooks brothers....etc. full details and prices in slideshow on GQ site (link above) article by sarah goldstein and photos by peggy sirota.

on being shirtless a lot on weeds: "It’s not contractual, it’s just where my storyline is. I had to show my butt last season for the first time. And I had a hard time deciding whether to do it—we didn’t decide until the morning of the shoot."

on being with older women on the show: "I don’t know. Maybe I’m a better actor when I know there’s going to be an older woman involved."

on almost playing zac efron's role on high school musical: "That is definitely a rumor but it was really, really close. It was down to five guys and then I got offered a part in this amazing Robin Williams movie. And I thought to myself: fly to Vancouver and meet the director for this Robin Williams movie, or stay and finish the auditions for the Disney Chanel movie? So I didn’t even go to the last audition. I heard a rumor that I was their favorite, but I never made it to the end. I mean I would have had a blast doing it. But I’m so happy for Zac, he’s the only guy for that."

and my favorite question in the interview....(follow up to above answer)
Didn’t you kick the crap out of him onscreen in 17 Again?
Yes. That was kind of awesome.

what did we wait for: project runway

so project runway is beginning again this fall august 20, 10 pm (two days after i land - except i don't have a tv...ah well) and as part of the summer net surfing i've been doing (terribly little lately as a result of a 40 hour work week..) i checked out all 16 designer's portfolios online and came up with these three as my favorite - go skip over to bravo's website and check em out for yourself and tell me what you think

the site has 44 short questions asked and answers from each designer as well including "favorite colors" and "favorite model" and encompassing "what kind of child were you like" "what kind of housemate are you" - interesting fodder to chew...

there are also really cool home videos / audition tapes / closet tours online available for each designer...but as a result of not being in the usa i can't view them...

what did we LOVE: ed westwick (yet again)

ed-westwick-4

people magazine, in honor of ed westwick's 22nd birthday, has twenty-two steamy hot shots of him (some better than others) on their website.

sooooo attractive. eep. janice what have you done to me.
maybe it's a subconscious symptom of being away from new york. missing gossip girl. missing all the people i watched it with.
or it's just because ed westwick is that delish that i have posted multiple times about him.
