what did we eat: dessert - tai wai

preston, jeanie, ariana and i topped off our saturday night lazy night in with dessert in tai wai after which there was pouring rain.

jeanie and ariana split the following: cookies and cream ice cream in a pastry $18 HKD (i think?) ($2.32 USD) / chocolate ice sheets with mango "stars" on top $26 HKD ($3.35 USD)





i had myself a soy pudding (?) "dul fu fa" with yellow sugar $11 HKD ($1.41 USD)


and preston opted for the aloe apple ice drink $12 HKD ($1.54 USD)


to me, there is nothing quite like eastern desserts

emma-lee moss was born in hong kong (yeh!) in 1984, is self-titled "emmy the great" and is currently london based. her entire album (void of "where is my mind") is self-written, which i consider a fairly impressive feat. her debut album "first love" was released february 2009. having just played in hong kong, she is moving on to singapore, ireland and then back to england. she has toured with tilly and the wall, martha wainwright and jamie t.

what did we eat - june 15

what did we celebrate pt II.

what did we do for the last 10 days

the last ten days were crazy. so intense.
i completed a 3d body in time assignment consisting of a 2x2x2' cube which i wore to and back from school
i completed a 2d 3 week assignment consisting of 13 digital frames of a narrative about a north korean child refugee
i did not sleep for a full 27 hours
i tried to catch "bobby" the mouse with a shoebox
i, with nicole, organized and successfully executed a (pretty amazing if i can claim it) surprise birthday party for erin and janice
i finally broke my lent fast with a peanut butter swirl brownie and ice cream
i saw four brothers in Christ baptized
i looked at, with neha and joint with her, 16 apartments

we defy the forecast

happy birthday katie! if it weren't for you turning 19 today, i would not have left my dorm and experienced the gorgeous sun, weather, grass and picnic at central park today.

or had as much fun at the disney store and learned the great virtues of fake hair, mickey mouse dishware and kitchen gear and that i fit in cinderellas "glass" (plastic) slippers (plus all the other kid shoes...so if i ever desire to wear rainbow sequin shoes...)

or wondered why disney would try to rip off bearbrick. and do it so badly. and with such a lame title as "vinylmation." it's a mystery to me. i guess disney is trying to be trendy and keep "in" with the cool crowd beyond it's sparkling pink rings for little girls.

also: there are no starbucks along fifth ave from 59th st to 47th st.

what i learned

today (yesterday) i learned that having friends over is incredibly fun and exhilarating and busy and happy but intensely time consuming and energy draining. you would think that this would be fairly obvious but until you have two girlfriends over for four days and five nights and your boyfriend around for a full day you're not aware of how things build up.

i also learned that having black hair requires intense bleaching and multiple dying in order for color to appear properly. trying to defy your natural hair color is also time consuming.
