ZHOU FAN
26 year old chinese contemporary artist from shanxi province - exhibited in shang hai, germany and new york and hopefully budding more, gaining more recognition - continuing to produce good work. really took off when chosen as one of top 25 emerging chinese artists at the Chinese Art Prize by renowned international critics.
inspired by dreams, jelly fish, childhood, tentacles and sea creatures...things other than reality. zhou fan's work fascinates me for it's fantastical elements. (which is quite normal of me to like.) the ideation / imagination element catches my attention. not only aesthetic - zhou fan incorporates variety of cultural meaning, political thoughts and opinions and social commentary into his art. which is always key for design. it not being merely good design - but good design with an impact, with substance.
